SDO Pampanga Standardizes Tests for Senior High

          The Schools Division Office of Pampanga, through the initiative of the its SHS Focal Person, Wesly M. Tayag, spearheaded its first-ever writeshop in the development and finalization of Senior High School standardized tests last January 22-24, 2019 at Mexico National High School, Mexico, Pampanga.

          Fifty-two test constructors from the seven clusters of the division were selected to craft test questions on 52 Core, Applied and Specialized subjects. Speakers were also invited to discuss topics in relation to rules on test construction.

          On its first day, Sir Wesly M. Tayag gave his introduction to Measurement and Evaluation. Sir June D. Cunanan, Education Program Supervisor for English, discussed Understanding Table of Specification. During the second day of the said writeshop, Dr. Vicky Pineda-Vital, Director DHVTSU Mexico Campus, discussed the Guidelines for Constructing Effective Test Items and in the afternoon, Dr. Celia R. Lacanlale, Chief, Curriculum Implementation Division, discussed the Principles of Assessment and Quality Assured Assessment. On the third day, Dr. Jane P. Valencia, Education Program Supervisor for Mathematics discussed on Supervising Assessment while Sir Marvin Licup, Principal III of Tinajero High School Annex discussed on performing Item Analysis.

          The select teachers are expected to produce two quarters: one for the midterms and another for the finals. The produced test questions will be assessed and will be classified according to relativity based on the curriculum guides per subject area. A Test Constructor Contract was given to every participating teacher of the said writeshop which serves as an agreement for confidentiality.
